Scottish Government finds another £11 million for peatland restoration

It is estimated that the country’s peatlands currently store around 1600 million tonnes of carbon. In an effort to keep that carbon locked up, and increase the peatlands’ ability to absorb more from the atmosphere, an extra £11 million has been allocated by ScotGov to fund projects to restore degraded peatlands, following an initial commitment of £3 million earlier this year.
